Karan Johar Has This To Say On Filmmakers Responsibility Towards Society

We have all been influenced by films at some point in our lives. If ‘Chak De! India’ gave me motivation, ‘Dear Zindagi’ helped me with a fresher perspective on life. Every film that has a social message has proven to bring some sort of change, and recently Karan Johar opened up about filmmakers responsibility towards society.

Karan Johar, while speaking at the All India Management Association’s ninth National Leadership Conclave, shared how filmmakers have a certain responsibility; however, he also acknowledged that one film cannot change the entire society. “What we project and what we say, we have to consider it with some amount of sensitivity because people take the spoken word very seriously. Of course, no one can change the fabric of society with one feature film. It is not possible. It takes a lot of work and a lot of cinema if you want to drive home a point today. I believe so many films that talk about women empowerment are finally hitting home today. Nothing happens overnight,” Karan Johar revealed. I agree that one film may not be able to change the entire thought process of society, but sometimes it is enough to bring about significant change.

On the work front, Karan Johar, who last directed ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, is currently gearing up for his upcoming production venture, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Mahi’. The sports drama starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor is set to release theatrically on May 31, 2024.
