One of my memorable roles of Jaya Bachchan was her playing Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, and her emotional scenes still make me tear up. The veteran actress has a striking screen presence even today, and her recent appearance in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ is proof of her phenomenal acting prowess, which is widely praised.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who directed and produced quite a few films starring Jaya Bachchan, made a really sweet revelation about her and debunked the image that has been established for her when it comes to her rude personality around the paps. Here’s what Karan Johar had to say…

In conversation on the Mid-Day’s show ‘Sit With Hitlist’, Karan Johar shared some heartwarming details about Jaya Bachchan, which are not known to many. “I want to put this on record, Aunty J as I call her, is far from what you think she is. She is the kindest, warmest, largest-hearted person I know. My crew, if you ask them who is the favourite person on set, they would say Jaya Bachchan. She is the only person who remembered the 14 AD’s names, knew what they did, where they lived, and how many siblings they had, she cared enough for all of them. When she used to feel a crew member was overworking, she would send for samosas and mithai, or get a cake on set. People loved her,” Karan Johar revealed.

Getting irritated if the paparazzi cameras are too close to your face or if they try to invade your privacy is human, and we now understand her side as well. Overall, Jaya Bachchan seems like a warm person in real life! Her vivacious personality is also pretty evident during her appearances on her granddaughter’s podcast ‘What the Hell Navya’.
