Ajay Devgn returns with Son of Sardaar 2

Ajay Devgn is all set to bring back the madness with Son of Sardaar 2, and fans couldn’t be more excited. The actor dropped the film’s first poster along with the release date, offering a fresh glimpse of his iconic character, Jassi. Dressed in a vibrant turban and oozing swagger, Devgn’s look has already created buzz across social media. He also revealed that the much-awaited sequel will hit theaters on 25th July.

Following up on the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar, which featured Sonakshi Sinha, this sequel marks Devgn’s long-awaited return to comedy. Interestingly, Son of Sardaar 2 is headed for a box office clash with Param Sundari—a romantic drama starring Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, also releasing on the same day.

Taking to Instagram, Devgn shared the poster and wrote, “The Return of the Sardaar. #SOS2 in cinemas near you on 25th July. #SardaarIsBack #SonOfSardaar2,” while tagging his co-star Mrunal Thakur, who features in a leading role.

The ensemble cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, Sahil Mehta, Kubbra Sait, and Ravi Kishan. This comedy-action entertainer is expected to show Devgn in a lighter space again—something audiences haven’t seen in a while, especially after a streak of intense action films like Shaitaan, Maidaan, Bholaa, and Singham Again.

Though Son of Sardaar 2 may not match the madness of Golmaal or Bol Bachchan, the film promises plenty of laughs and family-friendly entertainment that could resonate with the masses.

Flashback to the 2012 release

The original Son of Sardaar, directed by Ashwni Dhir, starred Ajay Devgn alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, and Juhi Chawla. It was the official Hindi remake of the 2010 Telugu film Maryada Ramanna. Despite going head-to-head with Jab Tak Hai Jaan during its release, Son of Sardaar did extremely well at the box office. The film drew mixed reviews but was praised for its comedy, performances, and stylish action scenes. It ended up collecting around ₹161 crore globally.

The Big Box Office Clash

Maddock Films’ Param Sundari is also arriving on July 25, making this a high-stakes box office weekend. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film dives into a North-meets-South love story featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra. The teaser, which dropped earlier this month, received a positive response—especially the Sonu Nigam song that has already become a fan favorite.
