One of South India’s top actresses and the daughter of veteran stars Kamal Haasan and Sarika, Shruti Haasan has always been candid about cosmetic enhancement. Though she has faced trolling for her openness, the actress continues to address the subject head-on. Recently, in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Shruti once again responded to online comments calling her “plastic surgery ki dukaan.”

Shruti on Dealing With Trolls

Shruti Haasan Hits Back at Trolls Over Plastic Surgery Remarks

“When I spoke up, I got comments like, ‘Oh, yeh to plastic surgery ki dukaan hai’ (Oh, she is full of plastic surgery). But I know what and how much I have done, and how much more others have. That’s the price you pay for honesty. It is okay. And I never promote it. This is my choice,” Shruti asserted.

Her First Admission in 2020

Shruti first addressed the subject openly in 2020 through a social media post, where she wrote, “I’m happy to say this is my life, my face, and yes, I’ve had plastic surgery, which I’m not ashamed to admit. Do I promote it? No. Am I against it? No. It’s just how I choose to live. The biggest favor we can do for ourselves and others is just be and learn to accept the changes and the movement of our bodies and minds.”

Personal Struggles Before Speaking Up

Her post came just months after she revealed personal struggles with alcohol addiction and hormonal changes on the Telugu talk show Feet Up With The Stars. In October 2019, she admitted, “People are always saying, ‘Shruti has become fat.’ I was trying to heal myself. I stopped caring about what people were saying. I had to figure it all out. I took a one-year break.”

Currently, Shruti is seen in Coolie, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial headlined by Rajinikanth. The Tamil action entertainer also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Rachita Ram, with a special cameo by Bollywood actor Aamir Khan.
