Social media has once again proven to be a place where misinformation spreads like wildfire. The latest victim of such falsehoods was veteran actor Raza Murad, after posts claiming his death went viral. To set the record straight—Raza Murad is alive. In fact, the actor has lodged an FIR in Mumbai after a misleading social media post falsely declared him dead, even listing his date of birth along with a fabricated “date of death.”

Actor Reacts to Fake Death News
Speaking to PTI, Murad expressed his shock and disappointment over the hoax. He said,
“There are some people who, for reasons I don’t understand, seem bothered by my existence. They posted about my death and even offered condolences. They wrote that I had worked for many years, but now no one is there to remember me. They even mentioned my birthday and a fake date of death in that post. This is a very serious matter.”
Emotional Toll of Viral Hoax
The 73-year-old actor further spoke about the emotional distress caused by the rumor, saying, “My throat, tongue, and lips have dried up from telling people that I am alive. This false news has spread everywhere. I am getting calls and messages from across the world. People are even sending me copies of the post.”

“Cheap Mentality” Behind Fake News
Condemning the act, Murad remarked, “Whoever has done this must have a very bad mentality. He appears to be a very small person, someone who has never accomplished anything significant in his life. That is why he enjoys doing such cheap things.”
FIR Registered, Legal Action Promised
Murad confirmed that the Mumbai police accepted his complaint and filed an FIR. “They assured me that they will get to the bottom of this and catch the person responsible. Legal action will be taken against him. This should stop now. It is not only about me. Celebrities are often declared dead while they are still alive. This is wrong, and whoever does this should be punished,” he said.

For the unversed, Raza Murad began his career in 1970 and went on to appear in several big-budget Bollywood films, including Khudgarz (1987), Tridev (1989), Mohra (1994), and Padmaavat (2018).
