Over the weekend, social media was abuzz with speculation about actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja allegedly heading for divorce. The chatter began after a report claimed that Sunita had filed for divorce in December 2024, citing cruelty, cheating, and desertion. While both Govinda and Sunita have chosen to remain silent on the matter, their daughter Tina Ahuja has stepped in to put an end to the rumours.
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Tina dismissed the reports outright, saying, “It’s all rumours.” When asked about her parents’ response to such recurring stories, she added, “I feel blessed to have a beautiful family and I am really grateful for all the concern, love and support we have been receiving from the media, fans, and loved ones.”
Tina’s statement comes shortly after Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindra, also denied the claims. Speaking to NDTV, he said, “Koi case nahi, sab settle ho raha hai. Ye sab log purani cheezen utha ke daal rahe hain” (There is no case, everything is being settled. People are just bringing up old matters). A source further told the publication, “Abhi Ganesh Chaturthi aayega, aapko sab saath mein nazar aayenge” (During Ganesh Chaturthi, you will see everyone together).
The controversy stems from a report by Hautterfly, which alleged that Sunita had filed a divorce petition in Bandra Family Court under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion. The report further claimed that while Sunita has been attending counselling sessions regularly, Govinda has repeatedly skipped hearings and failed to appear for court-mandated counselling.
As of now, the couple themselves have not issued a direct statement addressing the latest reports. Over the years, Sunita has consistently dismissed speculation about trouble in their marriage, and Tina’s intervention this time has once again reassured fans that all is well within the family.
