Bollywood’s casting director, Shanoo Sharma, has always been known for discovering fresh talent. One of the finest talents she found in recent decades is Ranveer Singh. Ranveer, who made his Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films’ Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010, soon became one of the prominent faces of the company. However, after 15 years, Ranveer’s exit from YRF raised certain questions.

Responding to queries on the matter, Shanoo told The Hollywood Reporter India that this wasn’t something they took personally. “It did not hurt that he left,” she said, adding, “He is going ahead with his life. I wish him all the best. There’s a reason why he must be going, and there’s a reason why the production house is okay with him going.” She maintained a calm tone while speaking, acknowledging that this is how professional journeys evolve in the industry.
Addressing speculation about bitterness between the production house and the actor, Shanoo clarified, “I don’t think there’s any bad blood as such. He needed to move, so he did.” She also emphasized that Ranveer remains her best friend and there is no strain in their relationship.

With his first movie, Ranveer Singh shot to fame, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, won praise from critics as well as made him the audience’s favorite. He was paired alongside Deepika Padukone. The two of them met and started dating during the filming of Ram-Leela. Eventually, their relationship rumors kept the stars in talks, and then in 2018, both the actors tied knots. Last year, the duo embraced parenthood with the arrival of a new baby girl, whom they have named Dua Padukone Singh.

Post the success of Ram-Leela, Ranveer featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s two big directorial films with Deepika: Bajirao Mastani, which solidified his place as a critic’s favorite, by playing the intense role of the fearless Maratha warrior, Bajirao. The third one was Padmaavat, which demonstrated his ability to play a negative character. He played the role of Alauddin Khalji.

Later on, Ranveer Singh delivered a phenomenal performance as an aspiring rapper in Gully Boy, directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment. The film was a commercial as well as a critical success. His portrayal of Murad was appreciated.
After Gully Boy, Ranveer featured in a couple of films, but neither of those films performed well nor could attract the audience.

In 2023, Ranveer worked in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The was Karan Johar’s directorial project, and Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of Rocky won hearts as well as unlocked his doors to box-office success. His pairing and chemistry with Alia Bhatt became the talk of the town.
Ranveer Singh is presently occupied with the promotion of his upcoming movie, Dhurandhar, which is said to ‘re-establish’ the actor in the Bollywood industry. This film is slated to release on December 5, 2025.

Other than that, he will soon start work on Don 3, which is directed by Farhan Akhtar and stars Kriti Sanon. Ranveer Singh has taken Shah Rukh Khan’s place in the franchise. While SRK fans are disappointed, Ranveer fans are thrilled. Even though SRK’s magic will be missed, many believe that Ranveer’s charm will revitalize the beloved Don series.
