There Could Have Been Only One Person to Forge the Will: Karisma Kapoor’s Kids Slam Priya Sachdev in Sunjay Kapur Property Dispute

The long-drawn legal struggle regarding the late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s estate has turned dramatic, with Karisma Kapoor’s son Kiaan and daughter Samara making serious charges against their stepmother Priya Sachdev. The matter is being heard presently at the Delhi High Court and concerns the allegation that Priya Sachdev might have forged Sunjay Kapur’s will to leave out his second-marriage children from the estate.

A Family Shaken by Loss

Sunjay Kapur, the late head of Sona Comstar, a leading global auto components manufacturer, passed away in London earlier this year due to a heart attack. His untimely demise left behind a complicated family situation. Sunjay was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and the couple had two children together: Kiaan and Samara. After their divorce, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017. The dispute has now erupted over how his estate will be divided, with Kiaan and Samara alleging that Priya has acted in bad faith.

Allegations of a Forged Will

The latest hearing on Monday saw senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing the children, delivering a scathing critique of the contested will. According to him, the document contained glaring errors that no father who cared for his children would ever make.

“This will have multiple blunders,” Jethmalani said in court, pointing out that Kiaan’s name was spelled incorrectly, while Samara’s address was also wrong. “He had a very good relationship with his children. How can he have written his daughter’s address wrong and misspelled his son’s name in multiple places? This will demean the late Sunjay Kapur. It is so casual, it cannot possibly be genuine.”

Only One Possible Culprit

The advocate went further to suggest that the nature of these errors pointed directly to the stepmother as the culprit. “Only one person could have forged this will,” Jethmalani stated firmly. “If this document is indeed a forgery, it could only have been done by the beneficiary of the will to prevent any challenges. Only one person stood to gain from these arrangements.”

Karisma Kapoor, although not a plaintiff herself, has taken an active role in representing her children in court. Her support underscores the seriousness with which the family is approaching the allegations.

Prior Court Developments

The dispute is not new. On October 9, Kiaan and Samara had already made Priya Sachdev greedy in court, even by comparing her to a “Cinderella-style evil stepmother.” The earlier hearings also witnessed the court granting Priya permission to submit the list of Sunjay’s assets in a covered envelope, indicating the delicate nature of the proceedings. The court has also warned all concerned to refrain from disclosing details to the media, pointing to the high-profile but private nature of the dispute.

More than a Simple Legal Fight

At the center of the scandal is not so much money as a feeling of betrayal of trust and kinship. The accusations they make against Kiaan and Samara are very personal; they suggest that someone they considered as family was trying to wipe them out of their dad’s memory.

Sunjay Kapur’s life and career merely raised the stakes of the battle further. As the head of Sona Comstar, he was a legend in the automobile sector, held in awe for having constructed an international company out of India. His untimely death at a fairly early age left a void that extended far beyond the corporate community to his family as well. For Kiaan and Samara, the battle is not one of succession; it is one of preserving their father’s memory and upholding the relationship he shared with them.

What Comes Next

As the trials go on, the case has intrigued the public partly because of the cameo role played by Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, renowned for being calm and professional, and partly because of the sheer drama of the charges with respect to loyalty in the family, inheritance, and the authenticity of a legal document that has the potential to decide how an enormous estate should be divided.

The court will proceed with hearing the case tomorrow, with all eyes on the arguments, evidence, and testimonies, hopefully able to determine whether the will was genuine or indeed a forgery. Kiaan and Samara also hold their ground, refusing to accept that the controversial paper was written by their father and that it is in any way offensive to his memory.

A Struggle for Justice and Memory

It is a play that occurs, reminding us of the painful overlap of family, law, and inheritance. When tempers are short and money and memory are on the line, the courtroom far too often is a stage on which issues greater than legal ones are argued; it is a stage on which family history, loyalty, and loss are publicly laid out.

It’s an extremely personal battle for Sunjay Kapur’s children. They are not fighting for a piece of paper from the court, but they are fighting for the honor of a beloved dad and fighting for justice against what they see as betrayal.
