Gal Gadot said that she suffered from headaches that first started when she was trying to manage her work and home duties during the late pregnancy. The pain did not go away for weeks, so her mother insisted that she take a medical exam. Finally, on February 5, 2024, she took an MRI, which showed a life-threatening blood clot.

She remembered that the doctor urgently needed her to be there again after he had a look at her images, and he gave her a call straight from the hospital. As per Gadot, she was in a state of shock and fear, and she didn’t know if it would be her or the baby who was going to make it. She was identified with cerebral venous thrombosis, a very rare and severe type of clot that can be associated with pregnancy.

The doctors, on learning of her condition, made a very quick decision that the baby had to be taken out right away. Her little daughter, Ori, came into the world the very same day. On the day after, while Gadot’s husband was taking care of the infant, the doctor who was in charge of the operation and a team of professionals removed the clot. The actress said that she woke up with a profound feeling of relief and thankfulness, and referred to the time as being “given a second chance.”

Gadot praised the Cedars-Sinai doctors, nurses, and support staff who cared for her in public and said that their prompt actions were the key to her getting well and her baby being safely born. Later, at the Snow Ball gala, the Women’s Guild of Cedars-Sinai gave her the Hollywood Icon Award in recognition of her contribution. Her neurologist, Dr. Shlee Song, who introduced her at the event, emphasized the significance of Gadot’s choice to openly discuss the health challenges of pregnancy.
