Ranveer‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Singh has issued a formal apology after he received backlash because of his mimicry at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Ranveer Singh, who is popular for his lively and energetic energy with the audience, was involved in a controversy when he mimicked a scene from Kantara: Chapter 1 in front of the director and lead actor of the film, Rishab Shetty. Ranveer Singh’s gesture of complimenting Shetty’s acting and performance was misinterpreted by social media users, and a heated debate ensued, where most of the viewers wondered whether the imitation had gone beyond cultural sensitivity.

Ranveer Singh Issues Formal Apology

Reacting to the online debates and discussions, Ranveer Singh issued a formal apology on his Instagram stories. In his Instagram story, he tried to explain that the performance was done out of pure admiration for Rishabh Shetty’s craft and the cultural aspect, which is deeply rooted in Kantara. The actor also pointed out that it was never his intention to make fun of the film, its customs, or its spiritual themes. “My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s incredible performance in the film”, Ranveer wrote, and he also noted that as an actor, he could relate to the director’s and actors’ hard work and emotional intensity necessary for such a scene.

Ranveer Singh also proclaimed that he personally holds India’s different traditions very dear and ended his statement by apologizing to whoever felt disrespected.

More Details On Dhurandhar

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh’s next movie, Dhurandhar, is in the news continuously for various reasons. The star-studded action thriller, which also stars R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, has been the talk of the town, especially after the director Aditya Dhar recently refuted the rumors that the plot is based on the life of late Major Mohit Sharma. His clarification came in the middle of a lawsuit filed by Sharma’s parents, who claim that their son’s story has been used without permission.

In a milestone move, the Delhi High Court on Monday decided against the motion to stop the film’s release, thus allowing the project to proceed with the release scheduled for December 5, 2025, in spite of the ongoing controversy.
