After the release of Prime Video’s ‘The Family Man Season 3,’ actor Harman Singha has been in the news. His entry as Yatish has captured the audience’s attention. Harman spoke candidly with MissMalini about his experiences, struggles, relationships, and upcoming projects.
Asked about the response he’s received since the release of Family Man 3, Harman says that from the day of its release until today, it feels like a continuous birthday. His parents, Rannvijay, friends, relatives, and even members of the Army, Air Force, and Navy have been sending him messages. Messages have come from all over the country and abroad London, the UK, America, Australia.
He says he’s never experienced such an overwhelming response. Everyone from delivery boys to distant relatives is connecting with him. Harman says the experience is both overwhelming and beautiful, and he’s never felt anything like this before.
His thoughts on the love his character and his chemistry with Shreya have received
Harman says working with Shreya was extremely easy and enjoyable. She’s knowledgeable, smart, efficient, and always professional. She onboarded Harman and the other new cast members and introduced them to the team, having been a part of the show for all three seasons.
He says audience feedback can’t be trusted, and there’s always a risk of people pointing fingers at one person. But Shreya made the entire journey easy.
He also says that receiving hate messages from the audience about Yatish is a good thing for an actor it means the character has made an impact. Harman considers this role a big opportunity in his life and explains that while he’s had small roles in Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Big Girls Don’t Cry, and Shoorveer, among others, Family Man allows him to utilise all his experience. He attended workshops, worked on his body language, and worked hard to portray himself as an agent.
What he said about his equation with Manoj Bajpayee
Harman says that his relationship with Manoj Bajpayee is like that of a guru and disciple. According to Harman, Manoj is like the sun, and the entire Family Man team is like planets. He, Harsh, and Dheeraj are like new asteroids joining the solar system.
He explains that he learned a lot from Manoj, and what he casually says becomes iconic for him. Sir enjoys the company of people and always wanted everyone to sit together, eat together, and live like a family.
The most special thing for Harman was that a busy and established actor like Manoj Sir gave him time and that’s what he considers the most beautiful gesture.
How he remembers his experience working with Dalip Tahil and Jaideep Ahlawat
Harman describes Dalip Sir as extremely cool, having a great presence, and being incredibly well-spoken. Lunching with him, travelling in the car, and chatting with him taught him a lot. According to Harman, despite being so senior, Dalip Sir exudes a youthful, energetic vibe and commands a room as soon as he enters.
Recounting an anecdote about Jaideep Sir, Harman says that during a large crowd sequence in Nagaland, when reactions weren’t coming in right, Jaideep Sir took the mic and controlled the crowd himself. He found this gesture extremely inspiring. He says that he wants to continue learning from Jaideep Sir’s career, and he can continue to grow with him.
How he views the struggle of making his way in the industry
Harman says his journey has been unique. He was in the Merchant Navy, then came to Bombay and became an intern at a production house. He worked as an AD on MasterChef India for three years, then learned writing and filmmaking, learning every little thing from script breakdowns to budgeting and casting.
He created content on YouTube, wrote a film, and shot it but faced many obstacles along the way. Being a freelancer meant there were many phases when there was no work.
He says Ayesha (the virtual girlfriend series) gave him a big break. Even before OTT took off, people started calling him “Ayesha guy.”
According to him, there’s a struggle every day in this industry, sometimes a film doesn’t release, sometimes payments get delayed but he kept going. Now he wants to reach a point where he can choose his own projects.
What support did he receive from his brother Rannvijay?
Harman says that Rannvijay is like a third parent to him. Hundreds of people in the entertainment industry were able to launch their careers because of Rannvijay.
Harman was a complete newcomer to Bombay, but Rannvijay was already established. Harman says that he owes a huge part of everything he has achieved in life to him. He gives his brother the responsibility.
Both brothers dream of creating their own project from the ground up write, produce, cast, and call it their own.
What advice do they give for staying relevant in the industry?
According to him, some people stay relevant through controversy, others, like Akshaye Khanna, through their talent. But the right path lies in the middle, keep working and don’t take success or failure too seriously.
He says that creative people dream of having a film released on Friday and the world seeing it by Monday, and that dream should be kept alive.
The journey is long; some shine early, some late. But authenticity is the key.

Harman reveals that his next web series, ‘Hisaab’, is coming soon. It stars popular faces like Mouni Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, Nimrit Alhuwalia, Shaheer Sheikh, and Avinash.
It will be available on MX Player, which has a huge audience. Additionally, he’s planning to do a travel show and a non-scripted show soon.
