Marvel fans heading to theatres for James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash may be in for more than just a return to Pandora. Industry reports reveal that Marvel Studios will release several trailers for its next big film, Avengers: Doomsday, during the theatrical run of the sci-fi spectacle.
Avatar: Fire and Ash To Feature Avengers: Doomsday Trailer
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Walt Disney Company plans to reveal four separate trailers for Avengers: Doomsday. The four versions are scheduled to be released in four consecutive weeks, with each trailer being shown exclusively in theatres for about a week. Although Marvel Studios has not confirmed this officially, the rumoured strategy is considered by many to be a courageous marketing ploy in anticipation of the movie launch.
What has certainly been helping the buzz around the trailers is the guessing game of the possible themes of those trailers. There is a popular notion among fans that each teaser will feature one of the four superhero teams, The Avengers, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four and X-Men, giving the fans a sneak peek of the story and how these teams interact with each other. If the theory is correct, the fans will get the insiders’ view of the interconnections of the huge cast on a scene-by-scene basis as well as the plot of the confrontation and partnership of the teams.
The release of Avengers: Doomsday is set for December 18, 2026, after the initial May 2026 date was postponed. The movie will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, which, as per the latest reports by Variety, is expected to hit theatres on December 17, 2027. In a nutshell, the duo of films are likely to become the grand finale of Marvel’s cinematic Phase IV.
Alongside the return of directorial siblings Joe and Anthony Russo, who were behind most of Marvel’s hits like Infinity War and Endgame, the project also has Robert Downey Jr. coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it will not be as Iron Man, but as the famous villain Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, Chris Hemsworth is expected to return as Thor.
On the other hand, the third installment of the globally successful Cameron franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is scheduled for release on December 19. Besides, the film has already become one of the most anticipated releases this year, with Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Oona Chaplin, and Stephen Lang starring.
