Abraham & Thakore is a brand that stays true to its roots and yet flourishes as a contemporary label supplying modern design. The label was established by David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore—Both alumni of National Institute Of Design, Ahemdabad—and later was joined by Kevin Nigli a graduated from National Institute Of Fashion Design.
Going the indigenous way of showing the traditional handwoven textiles and crafts in a new light, the brand has evolved to be the contemporary label that it stands for today. Now, more than two decades in the business, the organic ethos of the brand remains unchanged and more powerful.
14th March: With the theme #SadakSmart, Abraham & Thakore presented a trans-seasonal collection at the Amazon India Fashion Week. So, selected styles were available online and at their store immediately after their showcase.
Inspired by the bustling street life of Delhi, the collection captured the essence of the city through breaks in between the busy prints. Diversity was visible through a variety of silhouettes that mixed up traditional and modern cuts. From hoodies to ghagras, skinny jeans to salwars, jutis to trainers, and many other such combos were spotted on the ramp.
The neutral solids like black and white were featured alongside soft khakis and creams to shades of coral and olive green and even beautiful floral prints inspired by Indian chintzes. The sturdy weave of the classic gabardine played along with the cotton and silk fabrics to create texture.
The contrast of certain silhouettes to the others was amazing and the subtle colour palette made the #SadakSmart theme of Abraham & Thakore a pleasing trans-seasonal collection.
