Delhi-based designers Gauri and Nainika Karan first began their label Gauri & Nainika in January 2002. The ladies were originally students of economics but were majorly inclined towards fashion. Hence, after completing their course at The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT, New Delhi), they launched their ready-to-wear label Gauri & Nainika. offered a range of evening wear that spoke all things glam.

Their creations were inspired by European fashion, history, art, books, music and more. They’re widely defined as a women’s evening-wear brand that encompasses all things glam, chic and elegant. Gauri & Nainika‘s design philosophy is strictly feminine. They believe in the beautiful blend of tailoring with drapery so garments are crafted to have an appeal that lasts through the ages. All in all, the label is perfect for the kind of women whose styles are self-determining, sophisticated and feminine.

Gauri & Nainika at Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2018

A runway filled with glitter is the best kind of runway, right?! Gauri & Nainika‘s showcase at Amazon India Fashion Week AW18 was nothing like we’d ever seen before. They collaborated with ace menswear designer Ashish N Soni to create a line of garments that were all kinds of amazing. We spotted flattering full skirts, oversized 3D hand-embroidered flowers, extravagant ruffles and a major play of tulle on the runway. The colour palette of this collection embraced the vibe of classy eveningwear perfectly with whites, blacks, off-whites and more on the sparkly silver runway. The cherry on the cake was Vaani Kapoor‘s showstopping walk in a ’80s styled puffy sleeved dress worn over a tulle skirt and satin shorts. Check out the whole collection below.
