Saira Collection At Lakmé Fashion Week (Summer/Resort 2018)
3rd February: Payal Singhal’s summer resort collection was imagined through mythical muse Saira, who has experienced the Roman, Byzantine and Persian influences on Islamic design. The details that are brought to life on the ensembles through Saira’s exploration were phenomenal.
Architecture, especially the design details, was evident not only in the work on the outfits but also through the stage decor. Islamic art from Turkey, Morocco, Persia, Mughal India, Iran and Afghanistan came together through the intricate Kasav, Mukaish, Fardi, zardosi, jaali, filigree and antique embroidery.
Rich fabrics such as silk, Jamavaars, brocades, organza and tulle were crafted in some stunning outfits. Experimental silhouettes like drop-crotch draped dhotis, dhoti saris, micro cholis, cropped palazzo pants, bustier and jumpsuits blended well with traditional shapes like lehengas, kurtas, salwars and jackets.
Aditi Rao Hydari looked like a real vision in an embroidered ivory silk lehenga, choli and dupatta. She concluded the journey of Saira and the grandeur that was the stellar collection.
Through her Saira collection, Payal Singhal captured the essence of the bygone eras through the intricate designs and made it perfect for a contemporary bride.
