16th August: With the collection Sweet Surrender, Label Ritu Kumar presented a story of two different centuries at the Lakmé Fashion Week. The combination of 18th-century French marquise fashion and ’80s bold looks was softened by the modern approach.
The easy mood of summer was visible through the pastel colour palette of peach & prosecco, canary yellow and minty melons, which was intercepted by bold hues of calico blues & reds. Bold tropical prints with delicate flora and feminine sartorial details like ruffles and frills found their place in the different ensembles. The line up consisted of summer essentials like the signature shirt-dresses, asymmetrical tops, short dresses & off-shoulder tops. Easy-breezy fabrics like chambray, schiffli and tulle were the foundation of the collection.
In conclusion of the happy vibing showcase, the bubbly Disha Patani was the showstopper of the day. Entering the scene with the sweetest smile, Disha wore a strapless corset bodice dress that had an asymmetric hem and embellishments of floral thread work & metallic chains. She looked like the girl who was ready to head for a fun summer trip.
CEO of Label Ritu Kumar, Amrish Kumar, described the collection as, “The Sweet Surrender collection is a fun, flirty yet evocative collection for the young fashion front women of today”. We definitely got the vibe the fun-filled, flirty collection was going for with its silhouette and details.
3rd February: What happens when the key inspirations of the collections are royalty, military and quirky? These three unique worlds collided to form a fascinating collection called Maharaja Pop by Label Ritu Kumar. The show was showcased at the latest edition of Lakmé Fashion Week.
These distinct inspirations have led to a new take on the neo-combat trend. It was a bold move to design a line up that juxtaposed the different elements from these inspos, but they managed to do it brilliantly. The brand explored the quintessential winter colour palette of greys, blues and metallics with surprises of red in between. The quirky prints evidently had an indigenous origin. The ensembles were perfect for a boho-chic look.
The fierce collection had a fiercer showstopper, actress Vaani Kapoor, who slayed the runway in a printed skirt and embroidered zippered jacket. Her outfit truly captured the essence of the showcase.
For Label Ritu Kumar, this time around it was all about getting in the festive mood with some eccentric inspirations and unique perspective of Maharaja Pop.
