|2018||Hip Hop Baroque At Lakmé Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2018||Taapsee Pannu|
31st January: As the name of the collection suggested, Hip Hop Baroque by Label Ritu Kumar brought back the jazzy and edgy charm of the ’90s to the runway of Lakmé Fashion Week. It was all about the modern interpretation of punk.
The colour story was built around the punk rock vibe with black, blue, ecru, pink and even ochre and red playing its part in the collection. Modern textiles like shimmer jersey, Lurex, georgette, and splashes of sequin were mixed with handloom to create textural depth. Even the silhouettes drew inspiration from the era with printed drop-waist dresses, glitzy maxi, multi-striped skirts, pleated midi, metallic tees with matching flared mini, micro-pleated asymmetric maxi, the sari-inspired gown and mini silver sequinned skirt. These unique ensembles created a spectacular showcase, and trendy accessories like mini handbags and bum bags just amped it up.
Actress Taapsee Pannu added more zing to the show by stunning the audience with her appearance at the conclusion of the showcase. She wore an abstract print long robe, which was belted over a monochrome black outfit.
With a bold new collection of Hip Hop Baroque, Label Ritu Kumar gave a whole new meaning to punk that is apt for the eclectic modern times.
