24th July: It’s all about regal elegance when it comes to Rohit Bal’s showcase and his show at India Couture Week 2017 was just that and more. The decor and the drapes that framed the start of the runway set the mood for his royal collection, Shahaan-e-Khas.
Keeping true to his Kashmiri roots, the ensembles that were presented showcased the intricate work that Rohit is renowned for. The dori, sequins and machine embroidery created a texture that was true to the brand aesthetics. The different styles of jacket like capes, longline and mandarin-style were teamed with billowy skirts. Even the bandhgalas worn by the men had similar foliage embroidery. The extensive work found its base on silk velvet, cotton velvet, voile, net and matka. The colour palette played on regal tones like wine, indigo and black, with a hint of ivory in between.
There were two dapper showstoppers on the runway! Actor Arjun Rampal and FDCI president Sunil Sethi walked the ramp to conclude the show. Arjun wore an all-black ensemble of a velvet bandgala and trousers and Sunil Sethi adorned an all-white outfit of bandgala and jodhpuri pants.
Rohit Bal’s spectacular show mesmerised us by the intricate details and craftsmanship. The regal elegance is befitting for an extravagant wedding.
