Speculation intensified after a report by Hautterfly claimed that Sunita filed for divorce on December 5, 2024, citing cheating, cruelty, and desertion under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. The report further stated that since June 2025, the couple has been undergoing court-mandated counselling. While Sunita has been appearing in court, Govinda has reportedly been absent.

The report immediately set social media buzzing, but so far, neither Govinda nor Sunita has addressed the speculation. It is worth noting that in April 2025, Sunita had brushed aside similar rumors during a chat with Instant Bollywood. When asked about reports of separation, she gave a witty response: “Mere ko koi farak nahi padhta koi bhi news aajaye. Maine pehle bhi bola hai jab tak hamare muh se nahi sunoge, kisi bhi news ko react mat karna. Jab tak hum nai mou khole, baadme sab gole hie gole.”

In one of her vlog videos, Sunita had broken down while addressing divorce rumors. She said, “When I met Govinda, I prayed that I would get married to him and that my life would go well. Whoever tries to break my home… whoever hurts me, Maa Kali will punish them. It’s not right to hurt a good person, a good woman. I trust no one else.”
