Neena Gupta, known for her fearless fashion choices, continues to make waves for challenging ageist norms. The veteran actress, 65, has often been spotted in chic airport looks, including shorts, which have become a point of debate online. While many praise her confidence, she is no stranger to trolling. This time, she responded with grace and wit.

Neena Gupta Calls Herself “Shorts Wali Desi Girl”
Recently, Neena shared a video on Instagram where she was seen at the airport in black shorts, casually talking about carrying homemade food while traveling. But it was her caption that stood out: “Shorts wali desi girl.”
The post drew attention almost instantly. While fans flooded the comments with admiration, a section of social media users attempted to body-shame her.
Neena Gupta on Trolls vs. Fans
One user wrote, “Very good … only request: don’t show your legs; they are not well toned. We have never seen Dadi and Mummy showing their legs this way. Ageing gracefully is excellent.”
Before Neena could react, her fans jumped in to defend her. A comment read, “What a demeaning comment from another woman. Congratulations for being such a body shamer and part of the problem.”
Neena then gave a classy reply of her own, writing, “Don’t worry. These people who talk like this are basically jealous that they don’t have such a good body, so ignore them.”
This isn’t the first instance of Neena addressing trolls. Just last month, in an interview with Zoom, she revealed, “People fight for me in the comments and support my decision to wear whatever kind of clothes I want, which is nice.”
On the professional side, Neena was last seen in Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino, co-starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, and Anupam Kher. While she hasn’t announced new projects yet, the actress will return in the much-awaited fifth season of Prime Video’s hit series Panchayat.
