In the past five years, Bollywood action superstar Akshay Kumar has witnessed several highs and lows at the box office. While some films clicked with the audience, others struggled to make a mark. Among the projects fans were eagerly awaiting was Rowdy Rathore 2. However, the much-anticipated sequel has now been scrapped, and the script is being reworked into a standalone film.
Rowdy Rathore 2 Script to Be Repurposed
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers have decided to shelve the sequel idea altogether. The publication quoted a source saying, “With Disney unwilling to commit, Shabinaa Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have decided to scrap the idea of Rowdy Rathore 2 altogether and repurpose the script into a standalone commercial entertainer, free from the Rowdy Rathore tag.”

The script, which was originally intended to carry forward the Rowdy Rathore legacy, is now undergoing major revisions. Still, it is expected to retain the mass-entertainment flavor that made the 2012 action blockbuster a huge success.
It is worth noting that neither Akshay Kumar nor the makers have officially confirmed or denied this development. Fans will now have to wait for clarity on the project’s future.

While Rowdy Rathore 2 may not materialize, audiences can look forward to Akshay Kumar in Jolly LLB 3. The actor will reprise his role as Jagdishwar Mishra from the second installment, while Arshad Warsi will return as Jagdish Tyagi from the first film. The courtroom comedy-drama is set to hit theaters on September 19, 2025.
Legal Trouble for Jolly LLB 3

Ahead of its release, Jolly LLB 3 has already courted controversy. Following the unveiling of its first glimpse, a civil court in Pune issued summons to the film’s director and lead actors on Monday. Advocates Wazed Khan Bidkar and Ganesh Mhaske filed a petition seeking a ban on the film, alleging it mocks the judiciary system with objectionable dialogues and content.
The court has summoned the cast and director to appear on August 28. So far, the makers have not commented publicly on the issue.
