Makeup Essentials by Estee Lauder

estee1
Remember I went for my glitzy makeover at Estee Lauder last weekend? I thought it might be useful to get you the top 5 make up essentials so you don’t to what I did at MAC and spend 25,000rs ($525) on “I’ll take one of everything” mode! Read more…

Mumbai on the footboard.

MOTF-Final

I got this email the other day from a guy called Anish Vyavahare. Apparently he’s written a book called Mumbai On The Footboard which will be out in the market next week. To be honest I kinda forgot about it till he sent me a remind with this info. “I work as a copywriter for Lintas India in Mumbai, I took a six month unpaid leave from office to do this book and used up my savings to publish it.” Now that takes balls (or maybe I’m just having a Slumdog moment) at any rate if you’re so inclined pick up a copy and tell me what you think! Seriously Bappi?

Dr Dre. and Bappi Lahiri

Dr Dre. and Bappi Lahiri

Have you heard? Bappi Lahiri now claims that A.R. Rehman’s “Jai Ho” was inspired by his ludicrous “Ramba Ho” song from back in the day. I think he really believes it too. For the longest time I’ve been on the fence about him. His (literally) larger than life personality and outrageous fashion sense are almost endearing but now I’m beginning to think he may be a little nuts. Read more…

Cover girl, uncovered.

covergirl

This Saturday I’m gonna conduct a little tête-à-tête with Vogue India’s fashion editor Anaita Shroff Adajania and Bollywood starlet Deepika Padukone at Infinity Mall Andheri, Mumbai since she’s gracing the cover of Vogue for the 2nd time in the July issue for 2009. Should be fun. I get to ask her all sorts of questions on style and stuff. Mostly I’m just curious what she’s like up close and personal. The vacant human doll so many Bollywood belles turn out to be or actually the sweet & smart girlie-girl she seems to be! I’ll keep you posted. (Oh and if you can think of a question you’d like me to ask her lemme know.) Here’s what she looks like in the July issue where she reveals; Read more…

Missing Mikey.

RIP : Michael Jackson

RIP : Michael Jackson

I watched the Michael Jackson memorial online last night on web stream off the New York Times website. Heart-breaking stuff. I have to say I loved Al Shrapton’s line best, “I want his children to know: wasn’t nothing strange about your Daddy. It was strange what your Daddy had to deal with. But he dealt with it anyway.” Read more…

Right, lets do this!

Ola, apologies for the random disappearances. I’ve been trying to get the new blog just right and my mild (or so I thought) OCD is NOT helping at all! So as per your valuable suggestions I reverted to the good ‘ol shady figure that I am up top and have added several new functions which allow you to follow me on Twitter, grab an RSS feed and basically devour oodles of Mumbai gossip in an all new shiny way!
P.S. I Still have a ways to go to fix older posts which lost a limb or two in the move over but I’ll get there, you better believe it!

Pervez Damania

Pervez Damania and Vivek Kumar

On Saturday Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai boasted of a newly amplified nightclub at the High Lounge (which, to the untrained eye looked pretty much like it always has but what do I know.) Despite the downpour (and major flooding near the airport) the party was attended by Pervez Damania, Tulip Joshi with her boyfriend Captain Vinod Nayar, Viren Shah, Kishen Mulchandani, Zulfi Sayed, Rocky S., Mink, Pratiyasha Bhole and Hazel while DJ Wilbur did several shout outs to Vivek Kumar – CEO Hotel Sahara Star for “a rocking night!” Read more…

Play it again, Sam.

6251_117963605498_542990498_3501512_7317948_n

Like I said I spent Sunday afternoon at St. Andrew’s theater watching Anubhav Pal’s new play called “1.888.Dial.India.” Really funny in bits and Kunal Roy Kapoor’s performance (as the lead) reminded me of the comic style the British guy from “The Office” is a legend for.

Play Premise: In a time where “out sourcing” is a major money-maker for India an ambitious albeit slightly delusional businessman decides to set up a trauma center to help suicidal Americans deal with their depression call-center style.

Of course Sunday theater appears to be quite popular among the swish set too, and the paparazzi know to expect at least somebody who’s somebody on opening night! Read more…
