Jessica Simpson, Beauty Pays in Bombay

Ken Paves and Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson
Yup, its true Jessica Simpson is in Mumbai. (Thanks for the heads up Ranj!) But nobody panic she’s not looking for a new husband, she’s just shooting a segment of her reality show “The Price of Beauty” as confirmed by her on Twitter where she posted a picture of her and her BFF/hairstylist Ken Paves on their way to India. But what’s really priceless (and just goes to show how much the foreign press knows about what’s really going on in B-Town) is the obnoxious headline “Jessica Simpson in search of spirituality in swine flu country.” Wtf?! (I SO prefer Rohan Sippy’s tweet in response to my rant “‘@MissMalini swine flu hunts down j simpson, now needs spirituality”
Lol! But anyway, turns out while I was happily tucking into my Chinese food (and should I admit? Watching “Bring it On – In It to Win it” – a mindless movie about teen cheer-leading competitions) Gitanjai jewelers hosted a soiree for Jessica at Vie in Juhu. I’m guessing the general IQ of the characters in the movie I saw and the assortment of TV reality stars in attendance would have been a perfect match. (Psst! You think someone should have warned her about wearing Ekta Kapoor’s trademark tilak in public?)
I’m also curious if the unusually desi dress code was a mandate or the dolled up “celebs” were hoping to catch Jessica’s eye in their blingy bits!

nachofoto.com reported "Tanushree Dutta (left) looked fat in a salwar kameez." Lol

Neha Dhupia
Psst! It appears Jessica has also zeroed in on Neha Dhupia as the Indian Beauty ambassador for her TV show after spotting her on the American mini series “Bollywood Hero”. (I can imagine several “K” babes who will be so pissed to hear that! Personally I think she should have picked Priyanka Chopra.) Neha will now feature on a special segment on Bollywood on the show. The shooting for the segment is scheduled to start this week in Mumbai. The show has Simpson travel all over the world to meet women and study local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes in an attempt to explore the meaning of true beauty in different cultures. Bet you 500rs ($10) that she’ll end her visit with a comment about real beauty being on the inside, Anyone?
In other news, Kareena Kapoor has reportedly refused to play model Jessica Lal in a movie based upon a super scary real-life incident in New Delhi. On April 29, 1999, Manu Sharma, son of a former Union minister, shot her dead after she refused him a drink while acting as celebrity bartender at Tamarind Court, a restaurant owned by socialite Bina Ramani. Sharma was sentenced to life imprisonment in February 2006 after a lot of back and forth.

Ok, what’s up with the US$ conversions all over your posts? They are just irritating to read. I am sure your expat readership knows conversion, and if they don’t, its time they get with it..

Dear Bandra Boy,
Funniest/cutest thing ever that you noticed and commented on this! I’m quite thrilled actually, this means there is a boy in Bandra who has read at the very least 3 of my posts (chances are more) which mentioned a $ conversion. So here’s the thing… I started out writing this blog for out and out expats so logically put in the conversion (Ratethemusic.com habit from music prep for my show, they always put in a Pound/Dollar conversion) But THEN discovered a lot of Mumbai folk read my blog too, now I have a tiny little OCD so this would mean I either go back and delete all the $ conversions or keep going. What to do?!
