Like I said, anyone who wants to become a freelance Bollywood blog-ibutor (blog contributor, get it? Lol.) on MissMalini.com is more than welcome to send me posts from time to time and I’ll deffy use all the relevant ones with due credit to you! Here’s the first one from Miss R. all the way from Toronto Canada!

Shilpa Shetty at the 10th IIFA Awards

Hi everyone, I’m Miss R from Toronto, and a big Bollyfan. With the Oscars coming up, I decided  to sum up the Bollywood award shows this year. James  Franco and Anne Hathaway make Oscar history for being the youngest  Oscar hosts in history, in addition to being the first male-female pair.  Finally! I’ve always found the Oscars to be a very prim and stuffy  affair, especially in comparison to Bollywood awards shows. Shah Rukh  Khan and Saif Ali Khan were hilarious at the Filmfare a few years ago, and it is not  uncommon in Bollywood for A-listers and rising stars to be hosts, case  in point Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh who hosted one this year. So, with  Hollywood ending it’s awards season, let’s recap what happened this year  in Bollywood with regards to awards (And yes, I know IIFA is in the  summer, but, the bulk of the Bollywood award shows have passed!)

1) Different awards, different winners

While  Hollywood awards almost always have the same winners in the acting categories,  it was a very different case for Bollywood this year. While Kajol won  her millionth Filmfare best actress award, Vidya Balan won the Star Screen,  Zee Cine and Filmfare Critics awards. Also, there was no consensus on  best actor either, with Shah Rukh Khan winning the Filmfare, and Hrithik  Roshan winning others. I know that the different award shows in India  have their own biases, that’s another article, but readers, who were  your best actors/actresses of 2010?

2) Funny ceremonies

While Ashutosh Gowariker may disagree with me, I loved the comedy of the award shows, like Shahid Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan’s bantering at the Star Screen, Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor’s Guzaarish tribute at the Filmfare and Priyanka Chopra’s spot-on imitations at the Zee Cine.

3) Return of the Actresses

I was overjoyed to see Hema Malini, Zeenat Aman, Asha Parekh, and Rekha altogether at the Star Screen awards, they’re  timeless. Also, Madhuri Dixit’s comeback at the Filmfare awards was great, she looks the same as she did years ago.

4) Sweet Moments

Ranveer Singh tearing up after receiving his newcomer award at the Star Screen Awards was so sweet, I was frankly surprised it meant that much to him!

5) Sour Moments

Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan

The  Star  Screen Awards lost credibility when it turned out they were not giving  out the awards based on the largest number of votes, but rather, by who  showed up. Also, the Filmfare once again praised Yash  Raj favorites Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. They are great actors, but they have  so many Filmfares at home, and there were more deserving people in  their categories.

So, there it is, my first posting, but coming up is my take on Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan attending the Oscars, stay tuned!
