Miss Universe India, Vasuki Sunkavalli should probably edit her @vasukisunkavali bio which currently reads “lawyer, model, miss universe india 2011, nerd” because a nerd wouldn’t plagiarize tweets from a WSJ columnist and make them her own. Sadanand Dhume came to know that Sunkavalli, who besides tweeting about her photoshoots in Brazil, was also copying his tweets regarding Indian politics! When Dhume brought this to Sunkavalli’s attention she claimed to be ignorant of the “Retweet”.
Seriously, who’s buying this? Twitter only has 4 functions: @, Reply, Retweet & DM, is she implying she never bothered to ask anyone what that symbol means when she started using Twitter? This brings up a good debate on Twit-etiquette, do you think its appropriate to copy someone’s tweets without giving the person credit? Also, it’s a little sad that Miss Universe India is getting attention in the Washington Post & Wall Street Journal for something like this. Maybe they should start having a Social Media Grooming round, MissMalini would be the perfect mentor!
