As soon as the first model came walking down the runway, everyone around me was whispering saying “Our faith in fashion has been restored”. It’s been a tumultuous week of fashion at IRFW 2011 in the sense that there hasn’t been a consistent amount of really amazing fashion shows. Shivan & Narresh are true to their identity and their fashion, when you see their collections, you just – get it.

They opened the show with their short film, that set the tone for the entire collection, sensual with all the right amount of high class lady attitude the movie was a sure hit. Something I’m sure many other designers will follow for their next collections. Their colours of choice this time were greens, burnt ocre, orange, black and for the first time a print.

Shivan & Narresh should have started doing prints form the beginning, having said that, doing it this time was just the right step forward for a brand that was starting to corner itself into the colour blocking niche. Another first was the use of sequined on their maillots, as compared to the chunky crystals seen before, this time panels of pavé swarovski’s enhanced some of the curves of the garments.

It’s good to have designers who are so fully involved with the process of their collection from start to finish. You can see that Shivan & Narresh are deeply routed into each and every piece that comes down the runway, making it a show that stood out amongst the others this IRFW 2011. There are still 3 more shows today, but even if there weren’t Shivan & Narresh did us all justice.
