Shahid Kapoor to Star in ‘Vettai’ Remake

Seems like Shahid Kapoor has signed a new movie deal: he will be starring in the Hindi remake of Tamil film Vettai!

Vettai (which is a UTV film), is being remade in Hindi with Shahid playing the part that Arya played in the original version. There is also a second male lead (played by R Madhavan in the original version) that is up for grabs; UTV is finalizing this role soon. But apparently they wanted to get Shahid on-board, so they hosted a screening of the film for him, and he liked it so much that he agreed immediately – and has already allotted dates to the producer! Shooting begins mid-April, and apparently Shahid has even shifted around the dates of other assignments so he could make room for this. If true, it seems he’s quite excited for this one.

Sounds interesting, but I haven’t seen Vettai! Anyone seen it? Thoughts?

rashmi – you know, we DO have several different languages down “south” (and corresponding film industries) – would have been nice if you had referred to it as a tamil film, rather than lumping together all the south indian states. i don’t know whether it’s that you don’t care to differentiate, or you cannot, in fact, differentiate (although, a quick google search would have revealed the language of the film), or that you thought your readers might not know what tamil is. but in the future, it would be great if you could be a little more accurate!
