The Beastie Boys
The Beastie Boys

Adam Yauch, MCA of The Beastie Boys was an icon who changed the world of hip-hop and impacted a generation that was left forever changed. Yauch left quite a mark on rap music, and I felt it would be appropriate to go through time, and post some of the best music by The Beastie Boys.

1) Brass Monkey

Brass Monkey is about an alcoholic beverage. Brass Monkey is rum, vodka, and orange juice which is mixed over ice. It’s a very popular drink amongst college kids who try getting drunk. The Beastie Boys were not limited to just this particular cocktail – you”ll also see martinis, Chivas Regal whiskey and Moet Champagne show up in this song.

2) Paul Revere

This song is a fictional story about how The Beastie Boys met. AD Rock was on a horse running from the law when he came across M.C.A. M.C.A asks Rock for some of his beer, and pulls out a gun when Rock refuses. AD Rock then gets an idea about joining forces to rob a bar for cash and more alcohol. It is at the bar where they meet Mike D. They all come together and rob the bar, get into a brawl, get girls, beer, and leave. This song helped officially form their image as completely unpredictable.

3) Intergalactic

This won the group a Grammy in 1999 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

4) (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party)

This iconic song was first made by The Beastie Boys as a joke. Well, joke was on them when this became a huge hit!

5) Too Many Rappers

This song features rapper Nas. When this track was recorded The Beastie Boys and Nas never were in the studio together. They recorded their bars separately.
