4 Weeks of Fashion! First up was New York Fashion Week, were there was aplenty of trends spotting. After rifling through many a show, these were my top 5 shows that have left a lasting impression in my mind.

1) Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is a tour de force. He has 2 eponymous lines as well as designs for Louis Vuitton. For his main line Marc Jacobs he sent out a ’60s themed collection featuring a heavy dosage of  stripes. Graphic and sexy, its was clearly made for women who want to stand out amongst the crowd.

2) Marchesa

Marchesa was clearly having an Indian summer. Creative Directors Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig were inspired by the Beatles stint with Maharishi. They sent out a collection which featured lots of embellishment, flowy silhouettes and those gowns are definitely making their way to a red carpet very soon.

3) Prabal Gurung

I was blown away by Prabal Gurung’s Spring/Summer 2013. Gurung has finally hit the big league. I’m waiting and watching which will be the first celebrity to snap up this collection.

4) Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham wearing flats is as rare as Halley’s Comet. It was a surprise then that she sent out her models in flat shoes, since she cites that her collections are a reflection of her sense of style. The trademark use of zippers remained but the silhouettes were more relaxed than body con. It’s safe to say it’s her most mature collection yet.

5) Calvin Klein

Francisco Costa, creative director of Calvin Klein is known for his sharp tailoring and minimalist design philosophy. This time around he showcased a softer, fluid collection that was more sensual with the use of sheer fabrics and nipped in waists.

Which designer did you like the most?
