Ok so it’s not really water it’s Facial Treatment Essence but it sure feels like it! I discovered this magic potion courtesy the lovely Poorna Jagannathan when she invited me to a little skin and make up workshop several months ago to talk about beauty, trends and products. (Basically my favorite kind of afternoon!) That’s where I first met my new favorite product in the whole world. SK-II.

Now before you get super excited I must warn you it’s not readily available in India yet, but they’re thinking about it. Basically SK-II is a P&G beauty brand that was launched back in the 80s in Japan. Also SK-II is considered one of the most expensive beauty brands in the world. *gulp* BUT it is AWESOME.

Why? I’m told it’s because of a magic little ingredient in it called Pitera. Back in 1970 a scientist in Japan noticed that women who worked at saké breweries had super soft and youthful hands. All thanks to a natural, nutrient-rich liquid which they called Pitera.

So they decided to make a range of products called Max Factor Secret Key. However the brand is just called SK-II because it’s our little secret :)

It comes in various size bottles and I use it twice a day. It feels like your just dabbing your face with water but I’ve seen a massive change in my skin texture and I can’t remember the last time I had a breakout! I’m not usually one to splurge crazy amounts on cosmetics and I don’t think I’ll ever botox my face but if there’s one thing I will happily spend my hard earned dough on is the confidence this little bottle of joy gives me everyday.

I also tried their facial treatment mask which is quite literally a very Hannibal Lecter cut out soaking in Pitera that you simply unfold and wear on your face for about 20 minutes. Best. Faceboost. Ever.

But now for the reality check (and I mean cash!) Here’s the pocket damage.

SK-II Facial Treatment Mask. 1,525rs ($28) for 1 mask / 7,627rs ($140) for 6

To me, this proves two things, a) Yes, there is a god and b) the secret to beautiful skin isn’t cheap. Just to be clear this is not a promotional blog. I genuinely love this product and waited a few months to blog about it to be sure the magic Pitera potion was the real deal!
