It seems like John Abraham‘s upcoming production, Madras Cafe, has irked a few people. A certain Tamil activist group is objecting to the release of the film, saying that it portrays Prabhakaran – the late LTTE chief – as a terrorist. They are asking distributors not to release the film in the state, as the “sentiment is anti-Tamil.” John, on the other hand, disagrees, saying that they have made a fair and honest film that takes inspiration from the history of India.

John Abraham says:

“Madras Cafe has no bearing or inclination on any party, religion or group, be it a political party or rebel outfit. We’ve made a fair and honest film. Besides, we’ve got certification from the censors. So if there was something objectionable, it would have come up by now. It’s a real film in the political thriller space. There’s a lot of inspiration from the history of India. And every youngster in the country should know what happened in the late ’80s and early ’90s.”

We’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds, though!
