Actress Aditi Rao Hydari is among the newer lot of actresses who has made a mark for herself in Bollywood ever since she made her debut in 2011 with Yeh Saali Zindagi.

Since then, she’s received critical acclaim for her acting chops in films like London Paris New York and Murder 3.

Last evening in Mumbai, the sensuous star dazzled on the ramp at India Bridal Week where she modeled a show-stopping lehenga-choli ensemble by designer Preeti S. Kapoor.

Team MissMalini visited her backstage for a quick video byte and here’s what she told us:

Team MissMalini: Preeti, tell us about the outfit which Aditi wore on the ramp this evening for your show at India Bridal Week.

Preeti S. Kapoor: The ensemble has been inspired by royal India. All the intricate work has been inspired by old Indian embroidery designs. I also gave her the colour red to wear because it looks stunning on her.

Team MM: What did you like about the show today?

Aditi Rao Hydari: Actually it was a really beautiful show today because the stage was set so beautifully and the phool ki chaddar which was carried on top of me as I walked the ramp, was so delicate and beautiful too.

And, when I was looking at Preeti’s clothes during rehearsals, I think to be inspired by royal India is a very wonderful thing because there is so much beauty associated with it – the beautiful textiles, the beautiful work, the beautiful costumes. It’s really nice to look within, in to your own country for inspiration before we begin to look outwards. We unfortunately only look outwards. But I think, we should look within and find all the richness there is in our country.

Team MM: What style of bridal wear do you prefer?

ARH: I really like traditional Indian outfits. I think whether it is a sharara or a lehenga or a saree or even an anarkali…they are so beautiful and so perfect in themselves that I personally wouldn’t want or need any modern twist to it.

Team MM: How do you envision the perfect wedding?

ARH: In my opinion, a perfect wedding would be held at a heritage site with very close people and a lot of dancing…a lot of madness. I like it also when the actual sanctity of the wedding ceremony is maintained, when it is sacred and there are just key, special people in attendance and not the whole world. Since it is a special day, I think it should be celebrated with only close, special people.

Team MM: And finally, tell us about the Bollywood film’s you’re currently working on?

ARH: At the moment, I’m doing a very funny film called The Legend of Michael Mishra. It’s a film by Manish Jha who is a very celebrated film maker. I’m really looking forward to this film because of the team that’s working on it. There’s Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi and Kayroze Irani so it’s going to be a fun film.

Manish has an incredible mind and I’m looking forward to a fun time filming this movie.
It’s set in Patna and after Yeh Saali Zindagi, I’m doing yet another desi film. I’ve been looking forward to doing something like this!
