The beautiful Karisma Kapoor made her dazzling presence felt on the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week, where she was a celebrity show-stopper for the young designer, Arpita Mehta.
Team MissMalini spoke to her exclusively before the show about her future Bollywood projects and why she’s not on Twitter yet.
Here’s what she told us:
Team MissMalini: Please tell us all about Arpita’s collection, for which you will be a show-stopper tonight.
Karisma Kapoor: Well, I think it’s always good to promote new and upcoming designers and I think Arpita Mehta is really talented and her collection is really beautiful. It’s been inspired by one of her holidays. It’s a resort wear collection with a twist. It’s not just a casual collection. There are also outfits which you can wear to a destination wedding or a very cool party.
So it has an element of a twist to it as well. It’s very glamorous. Its young. It’s vibrant and has lovely colours.
Team MM: Tell us about your own personal style.
KK: Well, I think it’s extremely classic, chic and very sophisticated. I’m into sharp cuts.
Team MM: What do you think about when you walk the ramp?
KK: For an actor, it’s very different. We face the cameras and we give interviews. So it’s fairly simple. But I must be honest and say that I do feel a bit nervous on the ramp – especially when you’re just about to go on to the ramp. But once I’m on the ramp and there all the flash bulbs popping and people cheering, it’s a lot more encouraging and exciting. So it’s nice!
Team MM: Do you think celebrity showstoppers are important at fashion shows?
KK: I honestly don’t think it takes away from the outfit, as a section of the media might say. I think a celebrity, because they have a mass audience reach, it gets noticed a lot more when they wear a designer’s outfit.
Team MM: Are there any upcoming Bollywood projects which you are working on?
KK: I’ve not decided on doing any movie right now. If I feel like, I’ll do it. If not, I won’t. I just go by my gut instinct, whether it is doing endorsements or writing a book or being a radio jockey or acting. I think it’s all a gut instinct for me. So you all can keep guessing… and waiting.
Team MM: How come you’re not yet on social networks, like Twitter?
KK: Oh my god! You know, generally I’m a very private person and I’m really not that Twitter savvy. But I’m going to attempt it, maybe by the end of the year.
Team MM: Arpita, what made you choose Karisma to be your show-stopper?
Arpita Mehta: First of all, she’s extremely gorgeous. Secondly, she’s extremely sweet and elegant and she perfectly embodies my collection which is inspired by a holiday in Mykonos.
