If you think this complaint had something to do with the AIB Knockout, you guessed it right! I’m just here thinking; but of course, someone had to play spoil sport.
The AIB Knockout that featured Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Karan Johar being roasted in true roast format by a panel of comedians and stars on the 20th of December 2014, was recently released on Youtube. Needless to say, the video went viral. Now that everyone’s got access to it and the public has thoroughly enjoyed it, Akhilesh Tiwari (President of Brahmin Ekta Seva Sanstha) decided to lodge a complaint against AIB for “abusive language.” No joke, guys. He’s criminally pursuing Ranveer, Karan, and Arjun as well!
What are his reasons, you ask? Well, here’s what he had to say.
I have given letter to Sakinaka police demanding a criminal complaint be lodged against these so-called youth icons Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. The show, which can be seen on YouTube and other websites, was extremely abusive and it is not only ruining the clean image of the Indian culture & women, but is also misleading today’s youth.
This really made me think about what “clean image” Mr. Akhilesh is referring to? The one where women are getting raped or the one where we desperately need a Swachh Bharat? Oh well, being true fans of the roast format, we really enjoyed watching this knockout. What about you?
Might I add, this performance was for an 18+ audience only and let’s not pretend that India’s youth doesn’t have access to pretty much everything, including the Western roast format, on the Internet already. And the last time I checked, the celebrities being targeted were AT the roast themselves. And THEY definitely didn’t seem to have a problem with it!
