Yes, it’s true – we were the first ones to break the story back in January of Shahid Kapoor‘s engagement to a Delhi-based lady who’s not from the industry. Earlier today, several media houses began carrying the story of the actor’s engagement, and confirmed that the ceremony took place during Makar Sankranti (January 14th, when we first published the news). According to reports, the girl’s name is Mira Rajput, and she’s apparently a third-year English (Hons) student.

The news of their engagement came as quite the surprise to us back in January, since there we hadn’t heard of him dating anyone. But it makes sense that he would want to keep it quiet – after all, he’s been in the news so much for his alleged link-ups that keeping this under wraps was probably something he really wanted to do. And considering the two met through family and the spiritual group they’re a part of, it seems to have been a fairly low-key affair overall.
