As summer comes to an end, we’re heading for a 3-month-long monsoon that’s probably going to give you frizzy hair, oily skin, and makeup dripping down your face. While Bollywood beauties always look like perfection dancing in the rain, unfortunately, reality is not so. The rainy season is an extremely confusing time for your skin. While the humidity puts your sebaceous glands on overdrive, the constant rain and wet skin can have a drying effect. So, here’s what you can do when it comes to makeup and skincare during this season.

1) Moisturize

Never forget to moisturize. When you don’t moisturize, that too puts your oil glands into overdrive, producing extra oil to compensate. Keep the balance going and moisturize after you cleanse, 2-3 times a day.

2) Cleanse & Exfoliate

Whether you use a cleanser that comes with gentle exfoliating beads, a deep cleansing brush, or just wipe your face with a warm towel after washing your face, it’s important to take 2-3 minutes to concentrate on this process. The water, the makeup, and oily pores put your skin through major trauma. You need to take time for a deeper cleanse (this doesn’t mean you cleanse only once a day). If you wear eye makeup, remove your makeup first and then cleanse.  It’s important to slough away dead cell buildup that can clog your pores and worsen the condition of the skin.

3) CC Cream

If you don’t need too much coverage, a CC or BB cream will do the trick. It’ll provide you an even skin tone and will last throughout the day. The heavier coverage you apply, the more it will fade in the rain and humidity. Plus, it’ll only cause your skin to get oilier. If you feel you need little more than cream, go over with a little concealer in required areas.

4) Waterproof Mascara

You can ditch smudgy kohl and keep it fresh this monsoon with this no-brainer: waterproof mascara. Try lining your eyes with just a little bit of a dark eyeshadow, smoked out with a brush just below the lash line. If you have to wear kohl, though, obviously… go for waterproof.

5) Primer

Use a primer that will prep your skin, smoothen it, and hold your makeup in place. Once you’ve found the right primer, don’t let it go. It will be your best friend this season.
