Tanu Weds Manu Returns

Tanu Weds Manu Returns continues to be on a rampage. As if the first week wasn’t impressive enough with collections over 70 crore, the second week showed amazing hold at the box office. There was no stopping the film as it continued to bring on huge numbers across the country. So much so that over 46 crore came just from India. Now these are superb numbers indeed as, apart from Akshay Kumar starrers Gabbar Is Back and Baby, no other film released this year has managed 46 crore even in its first week. This isn’t all – barely a handful of films have managed this as a lifetime total in 2015.

Amazing, but true!

As a result, the Aanand L. Rai directed film now stands at a huge 127 crore after its third weekend. While this has brought Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan in the 100 crore club, for producers Eros too this is a big ticket outing, and that too when the production cost (including P&A) was just around 30 crore. In that aspect, Tanu Weds Manu Returns is one of the best ROI films that one has seen in last several years. Blockbuster!

Meanwhile, Welcome 2 Karachi couldn’t really find much audience for itself and a lot also has to do with the kind of competition that came from Tanu Weds Manu Returns. While it has managed a first week of 8 crore, it would have been at least double if not for competition from Tanu Weds Manu Returns. A decent film with some good laughs, the Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani starrer deserved better.

As for Ishqedarriyaan and P Se PM Tak, they disappeared without making any noise whatsoever.
