A couple of days ago, I shared a few inside photos of Sania Mirza‘s sister, Anam Mirza‘s grand engagement. Now, here’s something about Anam and her beau Akbar Rasheed that is bound to make you go aww. Firstly, I must tell you that Anam is a super filmi girl and a die-hard Shah Rukh Khan fan. So when the superstar was in Hyderabad to shoot for Dilwale recently, badminton player Saina Nehwal is not the only person he met. tennis star Sania’s sister also paid SRK a visit on the sets along with her fiance.
And the filmi girl that Anam is, she had always dreamed about a Bollywood style marriage proposal! She told Hyderabad Times:
I always had a very movie-like marriage proposal in mind. So, here I was waiting for a filmi proposal from Akbar, while our engagement invitations were already sent out. Of course our families had discussed that we are getting engaged and all, but I was left wondering ‘Arey abhi tak Akbar ne mujhe woh movie wala proposal kyun nahin diya!’ and I was definitely not expecting a proposal after the invites were out!
Her Prince Charming, Akbar added:
I knew Anam is very filmi so I planned this grand proposal at Falaknuma Palace on August 27, after after our engagement was announced by our family. We came on a chariot, red carpet was rolled out for her, there were roses and all of that. Also, I got a tiara for her. And then, I went down on my knees and asked her ‘Will you marry me?’ as the violins played in the background. There were banners with ‘Will you marry me?’ too.
A super thrilled Anam even shared:
That was the best moment of my life. I had got my movie wala proposal. I had never imagined he would give me such a proposal. I was so touched. But more than anything, I was shocked because Akbar is really not the filmi kind of guy. I mean can you believe that he watched Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge just three months back, that too on my insistence? How can you expect a person who has not watched SRK’s movies to do something so romantic?
