We’ve seen stand-up comedian Rehman Khan in various fun TV shows like Comedy Circus, Mad In India, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 3 and Nautanki – The Comedy Theatre. And the news of his recent arrest is definitely a shocker. A woman lodged a complaint against him at Santa Cruz station on February 29th but the FIR was later transferred to Waliv police station as the crime had allegedly taken place in their jurisdiction.
The 30-year-old lady who approached the police, is a mother of two and her husband works in Saudi Arabia. Reportedly, she’s a huge fan of Rehman and his comedy and therefore, she had added him on Facebook. The two of them had later exchanged numbers and they even chatted with each other often on WhatsApp. Apparently, Rehman had taken a whopping amount of Rs 2 lakh as loan from the woman, promising to return it soon. However, he started avoiding her after that. But then one day, he called her up on the pretext of returning the money and asked her to meet him at a hotel in Vasai, where he allegedly raped her. Rehman has now been booked under Section 375 and 376 of IPC for rape. And he has been remanded to police custody till March 14th.
