What a great year it has been for Indian Cinema. From oscar nominees to international awards, Indian films have been to places this year like never before. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced its list of films that are eligible for a nomination at the Oscars 2023. And, the reminder list includes a good number of Indian films. There are three major entries from the Hindi film industry on the list namely The Kashmir Files, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Rocketry. These films performed well not just at the box office but also received critical acclamations. Vivek Agnihotri made the announcement via Twitter, here’s what he had to say.
His film Kashmir Files has not just been added to the reminder list, but three members of the cast – Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, and Darshan Kumar have also been shortlisted under the best actor category.
Now, these shortlisted films will be voted on by jury members and will then make it to the nominated category. With the number of shortlisted Indian movies, I am keeping my fingers crossed and eyes peeled for the awards. India surely deserves one this year.
