It’s that time of the year again when fashion joins hands to spread awareness about breast cancer. The ELLE Carnival for a Cause is scheduled to take place on March 05, 2011 at Taj Mahal Hotel, Mansingh Road in Delhi from 12 noon onwards. Through its Fashion Joins Hands Against Breast Cancer initiative, ELLE augments work in the area of breast health under the auspices of the Ogaan Cancer Foundation, which supports the Women’s Cancer Initiative– Tata Memorial Hospital. Fashion Joins Hands Against Breast Cancer is ELLE magazine’s initiative to work with members of the fashion fraternity who donate creations, which will be retailed through the carnivals. Participating designers include Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Sabyasachi, Kavita Bhartia, Anamika Khanna, Shantanu & Nikhil and Malini Ramani. There is also a silent auction featuring designer merchandise from prestige brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Just Cavalli, Tod’s, Victorinox, Mirari, Tag Heuer, Gucci, Christian Dior, Ermenegildo Zegna, Salvatore Ferragamo and Armani!
Three fund-raising events have been planned in the first quarter of 2011 across three metros. The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi, will host a Saturday brunch on 5th March to flag off the ELLE Carnival for a Cause series of events. The next two will happen in Bengaluru, on 13th March, and in Mumbai on 10th April.
The Carnival features several fun activities like tarot-reading, massages, fortune-telling, innovative games like can cancer, ring cancer and basketball; all this, while guest DJs set the beat to the fundraiser with a heart. ELLE Carnival for a Cause is a unique way to raise funds, since the designer-wear is affordably priced under 5,000rs, enabling a wider audience to contribute and be a part of the initiative.
