I love Disney, you love Disney, everybody loves Disney and for a good reason! Disney movies have been such an integral part of our childhood that I, for one, cannot imagine not knowing whether Cinderella managed to meet her prince or not, or if Belle’s true love could actually turn the Beast back into a Prince! These childhood gems (R.I.P. Mufasa) will never ever be forgotten. That’s why I’m supercalifragilisticexpialidocious excited for Disney India’s first venture into mainstream Bollywood with Khoobsurat! So as the countdown for the awesome Sonam Kapoor-Fawad Khan starrer will begin shortly, I’ll list my top 10 favourite Disney heroines I’m sure all of us want to be!

1) Elsa (Frozen)

Know anybody else who’s rock Let It Go like this snow queen did? I know I don’t! The cold never bothered her anyway you see. Also, of course, Elsa is a queen with good intentions blessed with the kind of power she can’t handle. I love complicated protagonists and it’s awesome Disney made someone like the Snow Queen into a sympathetic character. But most importantly, I love Elsa because you know… this song! SING IT WITH ME!

2) Rapunzel (Tangled)

She’s so cute and so much fun! Plus her man candy is Flynn Ryder and Taylor Swift became her for a day! There has to be something supercool about her right? Mandy Moore has done an awesome job as the wonderful Rapunzel with oh-so-awesome hair! I can dedicate a Pinterest board just for those animated luscious locks!

3) Anna (Frozen)

She just wanted to build a snowman you guys!

4) Pocahontas (Pocahontas)

Two words. Badass and honourable. Actually that’s three words but nevermind, leaving your lover and staying back with your people needs courage and she does just that!

5) Ariel (The Little Mermaid)

But sometimes, leaving your family, kingdom, underwater palace (and your fishtail) for love is pretty badass too!

6) Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

Well, let’s just say, had Belle been a real person, she’d be the embodiment of MissMalini’s #geekchic! Plus the girl is rather cool in front of a beast, she also manages to fall in LOVE with him. Like proper fairy tale love! That’s brave. I’d die.

7) Jasmine (Aladdin)

Fire in her heart, rebel from the start! Jasmine rejects her wealthy suitors, doesn’t let her father’s decisions stop her from doing what she wants and obviously gives her heart to good ol’ cutie, Aladdin! Love her.

8) Mulan (Mulan)

Breaking traditions from the start, Mulan took her dad’s place in battle, yep you heard me right, BATTLE! But the best part is this Disney girl needs no prince charming to save her. The love story here is just a subplot and that was rather groundbreaking for Disney in 1998!

9) Tiana (The Princess And The Frog)

A modern take on the popular The Princess and The Frog fairy tale, the ‘princess’ here is a hardworking waitress who dreams of opening her own restaurant! The best part? She does turn into a princess but only after achieving her dreams. You go girl!

10) Milli (Khoobsurat)

She’s the first Indian Disney girl you guys! From the movie’s trailer, one can totally feel the crackling chemistry Sonam and Fawad have on screen. But the coolest part is Mili’s relationship with her mom, that itself makes the movie look so fresh and different from the regular rona-dhona. I’m sure this movie will rock our world, no wonder everyone seems so excited!

Khoobsurat

Now be nice and tell me which Disney girl is your favourite?
