Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Padmavati has been in the news much before they even began filming it. There were lots of horrible things that happened during the making – SLB and the team were threatened by a bunch of goons and their sets were also broken and shooting was disrupted. Post the release of the trailer, there was a nation-wide controversy, where members of the Karni Sena threatened to not let the film release, and if it did, they would harm Deepika and Sanjay. A bounty for their heads was offered by one of the leaders of the party too, which of course left us disgusted and wondering what the country was coming to.

The film’s release was pushed from its original release date of the 1st of December, 2017 given the horrid controversy. If rumours are to be believed, we hear that the film finally has a new release date and will come out on the 9th of February – when Anushka Sharma‘s Pari is supposed to release. There’s no confirmation from the producers yet but just the thought of the film finally releasing is getting us excited!

Here’s hoping it gets to see light soon.
