Karan Johar

India’s first transgender music collaboration, 6-Pack Band was launched in 2016 and it garnered immense love and applause all over. After its success, the creators are now set to bring light to the very important issue of understanding mental disability with their second one – 6 Pack Band 2.0. Joining them in this initiative is India’s leading producer-director, Karan Johar. They’re calling it ‘isspeshal’ and it comprises of 6 teens between the ages of 13 to 18 (3 girls, 3 boys) with special needs but incredible music skills, drive and passion.

The band’s first single, Jhakkad Pakkad Dance was released yesterday and it celebrates life in the most accepting yet carefree way. Karan has even voiced the prelude to the song. Watch it here:

The song showcases how we all need to shed our ignorance and our inhibitions and learn to accept everyone as they are and dance like no one’s watching. Shot all over the city, it shows the band having a blast as they perform without a care in the world.

Karan is deeply invested in his support for the cause with the knowledge he has acquired about ‘Autism’ while researching for his film, My Name Is Khan.  Talking about the initiative he said:

It’s so wonderful to see these young, super talented kids come together to create something so epic. I’m excited to be a part of something I know will not only change you and me but also has the power to change the world. I can’t wait to see what these kids do next, they are here to conquer the world with their talent!

The band has been conceived & produced by Ashish Patil, Head of Y-Films, the youth wing of Yash Raj Films and curated by Shameer Tandon.

We simply love these amazing kids and their free spirit!
