Mumbai is known as the city of dreams. Hundreds and thousands of people come to the city in the hopes of making it big. Mumbai has so much to offer from opportunities and entertainment to food and nightlife. Also, the people who’ve lived here long enough will admit that there’s no better city in the world than Mumbai. These people call themselves Mumbaikars. Mumbaikars are warm and welcoming. They’re friendly and helpful too. Here are a few traits every Mumbaikar has.
1. Working Hard
Mumbaikars work very hard. If they take up a task, they will definitely finish it and with efficiency, if we may add. They’ll stay up till late at work just to finish their tasks if they have to.
2. Partying Even Harder
We work hard, but we party harder. With such stressful jobs, we all need to unwind. You won’t find a day when a bar is empty in Mumbai. Everyone likes to head out for drinks after hours.
3. Jugaad Innovation
Mumbaikars are known for their innovative solutions to daily problems. They have a hack for everything. They know how to fix something with minimum expenditure and maximum result.
4. Survival Instincts
You could be stranded on the road due to heavy rains, or your car could break down and people will come to your rescue even if they don’t know you. During the floods last year, we remember people handing out food and water for random stranded civilians in case they were hungry. We’re all survivors like that.
5. Voicing Opinions
With so many social issues around, Mumbaikars do not shy away from voicing their opinions. Whether it’s a candle march or social groups, they make sure they’re heard no matter what.
6. The Love Of Travelling
Every Mumbaikar loves to travel. Since we work so hard, we need some time off to travel. Whether it is around the city or traveling abroad, we take a break every few months to spend time with loved ones.
7. Pride
Every Mumbaikar is proud to live in this city. If someone passes a remark about their people or the city, we’ll make sure to defend it.
8. Being Warm And Friendly
If you’re new to the city, people will go out of their way to help you out. They will recommend places to stay, where to eat and how to get there too. Mumbaikars are super supportive and helpful.
9. Socialising
If we want to head out to a bar or club, we will always know the right person to call for entry. It’s because we’re so socially connected, that we manage to get things done with the help of our contacts.
10. Love For Street Food
Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, and Samosas! We’d kill for them all. There’s never a bad time to indulge in some yummy street food. Especially because the city is full of places that serve yummy food.
So, if you’re a Mumbaikar, chances are you may be able to relate to most of these traits. We’re united, strong and take up every problem as a challenge and move forward. And of course, for us, Mumbai isn’t a city, it is a way of life.
