#MeToo movement
#MeToo movement

It all began when Tanushree Dutta spoke out just like she had 10 years ago, about being harassed by Nana Patekar on the sets of the 2008 movie Horn Ok Pleasssss. A mere few weeks later, Utsav Chakraborty, an All India Bakchod comedian had been pulled up online for his lewd and sexually inappropriate behaviour on social media. And then came a detailed interview of an ex-Phantom employee who spoke out about Vikas Bahl sexually assaulting her. With so many men in power being outed one after the other, the #MeToo movement is surging forward with a newfound force here in India and it certainly looks like #TimesUp.

Amidst the increasing number of sexual harassment allegations against B-Town celebrities, The Producers Guild Of India has released their official statement. They say they are unanimously in support of the #MeToo movement and are also forming a committee who will look into such concerns for promoting a much more safer environment for women to work in.

Take a look at the statement.

While we can only imagine how harrowing it must be for people to recount and retell such stories. I’m glad it’s being spoken about and some steps are taken in the right direction to correct the wrongs.
