It’s not easy to put yourself out there, let your guard down and actually fall for someone. Sometimes, giving it your all is not enough for the other person and that person defo doesn’t deserve you in their lives. You, in fact, deserve someone better and need to get out of this toxic relationship before it destroys you. But, it isn’t as easy as it sounds, is it? There are so many things to keep in mind because there’s so much history between you two that it could get really ugly. Not only could it get tricky for both of you, but personally, it needs to be dealt with properly. So, if you’re in a toxic relationship and want to end it seamlessly, here’s how you can do it.

1. Be sure of it

Before you think of ending your relationship with someone, you need to be sure of the fact that you’re making the right decision. If you’re ending it only to get back with them, then you rather not go through the emotional ordeal of a breakup. But make sure that you stick to whatever it is that you decide to do in the first place.

2. Be prepared to end it

It’s not easy to end an intense relationship. There will be a point when you miss them and would want to get back together. Prepare yourself for such situations and make sure you distract yourself from their memories.

3. Fix a meeting with them

Never ever break up over a text. A text can never deliver the right tone and that can really create misunderstandings. In this case, call them up and tell them that you want to meet them and make sure they show up.

4. Finally, tell them you want to end it

It’s confrontation time! Basically, the time to tell them you want to end your relationship with them. We really suggest you tell them what you feel, but don’t be harsh unless it’s really necessary. State facts so you have evidence backing your statements and make sure you don’t meet in a secluded area as sometimes, people don’t handle breakups well and react with drastic steps. In such cases, it’s best to meet in a public place to be safe.

5. It’s time to move on

Now that you’ve ended your relationship with your partner, it’s time to let them go. You need to get over them and move on. Moving on is really not easy at all, but it has to be done. Take all the time you need to grieve and let it get out of your system. And we’re here to tell you that you will get over this person at some point even if it takes a while. Distract yourself by taking on more work, meeting with friends and spending time with your family.

6. Remember why you ended it

There will be a point where you’ll miss them, want to call them up or worse, get back together. You need to stay strong during this time and the best way to do that is to remind yourself why you broke up with them in the first place. That’ll help you in moving on from that toxic relationship.

7. Avoid a rebound

You’ll be tempted to get into another relationship to get out of this one. It’s completely natural to fall for someone new who is ready to give you things your ex didn’t. But avoid it till you’re 100% over your ex. Else, you’ll ruin something that could actually be a really good relationship by comparing your current partner to your ex and that’s not fair to them.

It’s really important, to be honest to yourself and the person you’re breaking up with. Lying won’t help and might even make things worse. So, surround yourself with happy shiny people who love you and care about you and you won’t need anything else in the world.
