Advertisements and brand endorsements have made celebrities a household name for years now. In recent times though, stars have started to become cautious and rather selective about their associations. It has become important for many of them to relate to the brand and its values, and rightly so. Recently, South Indian actress Sai Pallavi turned down a 2 crore deal for a fairness cream advertisement because she didn’t believe in endorsing the product. Now, Shilpa Shetty Kundra is in the news for having turned down a brand endorsement of 10 crores for an Ayurvedic slimming pill.

According to a report in Mid-Day, a source informed that Shilpa was offered 10 crores for the endorsement but turned it down because she didn’t want to set the wrong example by promoting artificial alternatives for weight loss. Known to be a fitness enthusiast, Shilpa is all about adopting the natural route to wellness with yoga and eating clean (OFC, with her ‘Sunday Binges’)!

Talking about it, Shilpa said:

I can’t sell something that I don’t believe in. Slimming pills and fad diets can be tempting since they promise instant results, but nothing beats the sense of pride of being committed to your routine and eating right. Lifestyle modification works so much better in the long term.

Rightly said, Shilpa! She is such an inspiration for all of us who want to stay fit and happy in a holistic sense, no?
