Digital content in India has been making the world sit up and take notice of us as a country and we have some rather genius shows to thank for that. Be it a Sacred Games that delves into the heart and soul of a gangster’s world, or a Lust Stories that dives into the lives and thoughts of 4 very different women, these stories have had a universal impact all over. It’s not only original series but original reality shows like The Remix that are also being recognised. Now, these shows are all set to represent us and our country in the upcoming International Emmy Awards. If that doesn’t make you feel super proud!
Sacred Games has been one of the most anticipated shows on Netflix in the country, and one which was the talk of the town when it was out. The show garnered a massive fan following and was a look into what inside the life of a gangster called Ganesh Gaitonde – full of drama, greed, action and suspense. One of the characters that really became an audience favourite was Cuckoo played by the amazing Kubbra Sait. The show has been nominated in the Best Drama category and Kubbra is representing the show.
Talking about the awards, she told IANS:
I am putting it out there in the universe every day that we are coming back with the winning trophy. For me, it is the excitement of representing a show that has created a universal reach. Everybody has been moved, has been touched, and felt the exhilaration of being part of this incredible show across the world.
Another show that went to the Emmy’s and was something I really enjoyed watching was the anthology, Lust Stories, produced by Ashi Dua and Ronnie Screwaala‘s RSVP Films. 4 films directed by some really talented and accomplished filmmakers like Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Basu and Dibaker Banerjee, with some really strong premises and female characters leading the series. Producer Ashi Dua is all set to represent the film and our country on an international platform like this and is very excited about it.
Speaking of it, she says:
I am looking forward to meeting so many creative people from different countries . I just plan to enjoy myself and have fun at the show. I have been styled by my best friend and stylist Tanya Ghavri and am sure she has planned something good for me!
And it’s not only the original series but our original reality shows that are also gaining recognition among so many others in the scene. I am talking about the Amazon Original show, The Remix. The show encourages musicians to reshuffle and remix popular songs from Bollywood movies and was a hit among the audiences. The show, hosted by Karan Tacker, was judged by Sunidhi Chauhan, Amit Trivedi and Nucleya. Talking to us, Karan Tacker says he is super thrilled for their show, and that he is proud to be associated with a show like it.
