‘I Feel Guilty When People Praise Me For My Performance In Gully Boy’ – Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt

We love Alia Bhatt for the amazing scripts she picks and the great performances she has delivered in the last few years. From doing a Raazi and a Highway, to Gully Boy recently, the actress has been on a roll. While it has been hit after hits for this actress, she has seen a few failures as well and says that she has learnt from it that sometimes you’ll go wrong but you just have to work harder.

Now as an actor, it’s a different thing about being humble and being honest about what you feel about your performances. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Alia opened up about how she felt about her performance in Gully Boy. Though Safina was such a real and raw character and Alia did full justice to it, she says that in comparison to Raazi, she thought it was quite a fun and easy role to portray and it felt like a break from her intense characters.

Talking about working on the Zoya Akhtar directorial, Alia shared:

Though Gully Boy was intense, I had a lot of fun shooting for it, mainly due to Safina’s infectious spirit. I remember feeling happy every day, which is very unusual for me because usually, I am self-critical and don’t like talking too much about my work. Now, when people tell me how amazing my performance is in it, I feel guilty as I am like, ‘did I work hard’ or ‘why do I deserve this kind of appreciation?’ Personally, I too enjoyed watching my performance [in Gully Boy], which usually doesn’t happen. I enjoyed the film since it’s so beautiful and has been an unusual experience.

We sure did love her in the film and she was such a breath of fresh air next to the amazing Ranveer Singh, no? We can’t wait to see her in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Gangubai Kathiawadi next.
